Gooding County currently employs four full time officers for the City of Wendell and provides mutual aid. Population growth, economic development, and other growth factors will determine the rate of increase of police services in the future. Currently equipment utilized by the Police Department is adequate; however care must be taken to keep all equipment and officer training up to date and maintained. Retention of trained officers is extremely important for continuity and budgeting. This often can be difficult for a community like Wendell, due to high amounts of hours on the job and lower pay. Small communities also serve as training grounds, after which a qualified officer may be enticed away by a larger, better paying department.
